Biking the Weather

Nothing kills motivation like a tropical storm.

Okay, okay-even though storm season has hit, a storm has not hit our island--which is a good thing because this place is so small, I'd think a storm would just about wipe it off the map. The other morning, I did get caught in a flash downpour, though. Just as I left my house, water dumped over me, and all I could do is smile. What a place.

I make myself sound like an athlete, but really my commute is only 5-7min. by bike. The biggest challenge I have had is to leave the house 15-20min. earlier so that I can shower at work. And then 20min. earlier than that to walk the puppy.

But now that I've been biking for a short bit, I do love the extra exercise and the nice view I can have if not dodging/ being dodged by traffic. I am also very refreshed at work because I shower immediately when I reach work.

Today, I seemed to be an offensive driver. I was approaching a pedestrian (who was in the road) as a car went past me. To be cautious, I hung close to the curb,  and zoomed past this pedestrian. His friend grabbed and told him to watch out, but he let out quite a squeal!

In the coming couple of weeks, I hope to go with Mr. B to circumnavigate (bike) the island. In theory, even I should be able to circle it in 2-3hours. I hope to complete our journey at a leisurely pace incorporating food from snackettes, stops at the beach, and chatting with friends along the way. Sounds like an all-day affair, but I'll report back when it happens.
