Speaking of New Years Resolutions ( . . . uh, nobody was speaking about them), I'm thinking of training for a half marathon :) I'm pretty excited, considering I haven't run more than a couple of miles since high school.
It all started when . . . Well, really it all began with this feeling in my gut, that one day I would run a marathon.
Then, one day I met a guy (from another island) who was super excited and motivated to take on all sorts of activities and challenges. One of the things he does is runs marathons. And believe ME, he does NOT have the body type for it--he said so himself. "Built like a wrestler," says his doctor. Anyway, he put the idea in my head.
And when my coworkers came over for dinner and started talking about half-marathons, I decided I was in!!
Well, it just so happens that like all good stories, this one starts with a pair of new shoes. Prior to this, I admit I had a pair of black generic no-brand shoes that make my legs hurt to jog in. So, capitalizing a timely shoe-sale, I got these bright puppies! (what are young kids thinking these days?! with their bright shoes). That was about a month ago, and I've run 5 times--probably 8 times since I "started" running. And after that kind of a tally, what it really sounds like, is that I ought to stop blogging, and go out for a run. I think I'm supposed to be running 3 times a week. (The half-marathon is in Oct)
I lucked out because I even got a free running T-shirt after listening to some information about a running group. And I love free :)
